Local at-home care company, Home Instead Senior Care, has joined forces with Boots in Woodbridge on the 6th and 7th of December and Marks and Spencer in Felixstowe on the 13th and 14th of December, to bring their heart-warming scheme to the local area again this Christmas. The gift-giving scheme, called ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’, will see gifts distributed amongst elderly people in our community.

The aim of ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ is to enable local residents to give back to the older people in their community, who may be lonely during the festive period and who may not receive a present at Christmas. Members of the community can purchase a present and bring it to the Home Instead Team, who will wrap the gift and ensure it is safely delivered to the organisation that provided the individual’s name.

Speaking about ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’, owner of Home Instead in Ipswich, Woodbridge, and Felixstowe, Chris Lye said, “We are really excited about this scheme and are delighted that so many organisations are getting involved with collecting and distributing the gifts to elderly people in our community who really appreciate them.  What a wonderful way for kind-hearted people to purchase and donate a Christmas gift to older people in the community, whose lives they might otherwise not touch.’

“We provide care to older people in their own homes, so clients are assured of regular company from their CAREGivers.  But we are hoping that ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ will allow us to reach out to the many older people who, perhaps, don’t receive as many visitors as our clients and who would really appreciate knowing that local people are thinking about them this Christmas.”

You can donate a gift at either of the locations, or for further information please contact Home Instead Senior Care on 01473 272301.
