Santa’s Helpers Bring Festive Fun to North Yorkshire

The team at Home Instead have been busy over the festive period  delivering Christmas gifts to their clients in and around the towns of Harrogate, Ripon, and Thirsk.  Now more than ever,  with the current Covid-19 pandemic, the personal touch is paramount to Home Instead, so the Home Instead CAREGivers have been safely hand -delivering the Christmas gifts and spending more quality time with their clients over Christmas and New Year,  with social distancing adhered to and protective personal equipment worn to keep everyone safe.

Home Instead believe that caring  should not be rushed and impersonal, but that time should be taken to get to know the person well and ensure that all their needs are met including social needs as well as health and wellbeing. Home Instead visits are no less than one hour, which allows time for the client to receive the right care and attention, including companionship.   Home Instead carefully pick people to join their team who are not only caring and compassionate but who are genuinely interested in getting to know their client and spending quality time with them.

Sheena Van Parys, co-owner of Home Instead, commented; ‘Unfortunately, with families not living on the doorstep anymore, and with the Covid restrictions, many older people are on their own, especially  at Christmas, so it’s important that we go the extra mile to make sure our clients get to see a friendly familiar face on a regular basis, someone that they can chat with, who will be interested in what they have to say and overall to have some fun. Here at Home Instead,  we feel it is important that our Clients and CAREGivers are well matched, often there is a connection, whether sharing a farming background or playing musical instruments and loving music, which helps build the relationship and provide companionship that is effective.’

Each year the team at Home Instead  get involved with Elf Day, which is all about getting dressed up to raise money for people affected by dementia and in support of the Alzheimer’s Society. This year the team had great fun dressed as elves delivering gifts to both clients and to the Home Instead CAREGivers to thank them for the great work they do , and at the same time raised £200 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

We are currently recruiting , so if you are looking for a new career with complete job satisfaction and the chance to be an Elf next Christmas , then watch the video above and  please get in touch to find out more..
