‘Tis the Season for Donkeys

Home Instead Donkeys Muffin and Daisy have been busy recently meeting our lovely clients and their CAREGivers.

Muffin and Daisy were fostered 3 years ago by Home Instead owners Sheena and Andrew Van Parys through The Donkey Sanctuary and are not only family pets but also provide great therapy to their clients.

The Donkey Sanctuary, is a charity which does great work around the world in rescuing ill-treated, neglected, and unwanted donkeys.

Research has shown that spending time with donkeys has enormous therapeutic benefits as donkeys are naturally calm animals. Their slow and steady presence gives a feeling of security and comfort to the poorly, the elderly and those feeling vulnerable or suffering from emotional difficulties.

Touching, grooming, and cuddling donkeys is a great social facilitator, allowing people to relax and feel a sense of nurturing and connection.

Muffin and Daisy have certainly enjoyed plenty of strokes and cuddles lately, plus the odd ginger nut biscuit as a treat.

Sheena Van Parys commented; ‘it is great to be able to share these two characters with our clients, they are very cheeky, especially when ginger nut biscuits are involved and definitely bring a smile to anyone who meets them.'
