Local home care company Home Instead, who support older people at home in the Thirsk, Ripon and Harrogate area took part in the recent Christmas tree exhibition at St Marys Church, Thirsk.
The theme for the exhibition this year was 'A celebration of Christmas' and the church was adorned with a fabulous display of decorated Christmas trees. Local businesses and organisations get involved each year to take part and a 'bring and buy stall at the exhibition raises important funds for the Thirsk Clock who support younger people who are homeless and alone at Christmas time.
Home Instead created a tree with the title 'A celebration of older people', and attached to the tree branches were champagne glasses each displaying and toasting positive images of older people having fun, keeping busy and being active. To finish it off underneath the tree was an empty champagne bottle.
Sheena Van Parys, owner of Home Instead, commented 'it was great to get involved with the exhibition and support our local community and the title this year enabled us to get across a positive, motivational message that being older should not stop you enjoying life to the full'.
