'Tails of the Riverbank' World Alzheimer's Day

'Tails of the Riverbank' walk in aid of World Alzheimer's Day 2020.

For the past 3 years we have been joined by over 50 members of the local community of Knaresborough to show support and awareness in coming together for a Memory Walk at Old Mother Shipton's Cave.

They warmly welcomed us back again this year, but with a slightly different theme and atmosphere. 5 members of the Dementia Friendly Community Knaresborough steering group teamed up along with their pooches to make up the numbers.

More than ever during these uncertain times, it is highlighted the need to be more Dementia aware and know who your neighbour is. We have seen and heard many of our friends of the local community who have suffered with loneliness and lack of support during the past few months and the isolation they have felt.

As a steering group, we are all about coming together to create and make a safer, secure, friendly community who can support people living with Dementia and allow them to remain within their home they love and is a place they call home and feel safe in.

In working with local businesses, retailers and the public who want to make a difference we feel we are doing that, albeit slowly. We were hoping that 2020 would see a huge number of companies and people becoming Dementia Friends and working alongside us. Due to the current times, this has not been possible, but we are still able to offer ZOOM and small numbers of 4-5 sessions. Please contact Lisa Stirk on 01423 774490 or [email protected] if you wish to book a session in.

Thank you, Tim Cook from the Harrogate Informer, for joining us and putting together this lovely video.
