We support Knaresborough Dementia Friendly Cafe

Lisa Stirk our Community Co-Ordinator was delighted to meet back in December 2018, Norman Swales the Team Leader who along with six other regular volunteers run The Memory Lane Cafe twice a month at Gracious Street Methodist Church Hall.

Lisa was invited along to meet the amazing members and volunteers at a recent meeting. Lisa was so taken by the wonderful work that is being done and the support offered to the carers, she asked her Senior Management Team if she could become a regular volunteer at the Cafe as part of her working week. Home Instead Management were delighted to agree to this and plans were made to include Lisa in the volunteering team.

Memory Lane cafe is for local people suffering with Dementia and their carers to enjoy a safe and stimulating environment where group activities are enjoyed by all and carers get the chance to talk to other carers and benefit from support from the volunteers.

Last week Home Instead] presented the Group with a cheque that will help to fund 6 sessions and Lisa is looking forward to being an active and positive part of the group.

If anyone would like further information about the Cafe please contact - Gracious Street Methodist Church, Knaresborough, HG5 8DS on 01423 863298

Everyone is welcome and will be made to feel welcome. The next meeting date will be 12th and 25th February at 2pm - 4pm
