Harrogate Ripon & Thirsk based Home Instead, had great fun recently dressing up as Santa to raise important funds for Ripon based charity Dementia Forward. The 3 km Santa Fun Run took place at Ripon Racecourse, where participants got into the Christmas spirit and donned their Santa suits to run, jog or walk the 3km. Before the race there was a Zumba warm up for everyone to take part in and afterwards refreshments and a Christmas Fayre in the Wakeman Bar.
Sheena Van Parys from Home Instead commented;” It was a fantastic day, although very cold the sun was shining and everyone got into the spirit of the event and warmed up with the Zumba. For us it was a real family affair with our employees and relatives taking part, we all thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to do it again next year with an even bigger Home Instead team!”
All funds raised at the event will be used to support local people affected by dementia. In the Ripon and Harrogate District there are an estimated 3000 people with a diagnosis of dementia. Two thirds of these people are living in our communities and will benefit from the support given by Dementia Forward.
Sheena Van Parys added;” We all know someone who is affected by dementia so raising funds for Dementia Forward to enable them to do such good work in the community is vital, plus having great fun whilst raising money is an added bonus!”
