Local group raises money “on your bike” for charity

Northallerton and District Round Table successfully completed a Morecambe to Redcar coast to coast bike ride recently to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Local businessman, Andrew Van Parys, Chair of Northallerton and District Round Table and owner of Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon & Thirsk, who provide at home care services for older people said: “It was a gruelling and challenging bike ride but it was also very rewarding for all those who took part. The 11 cyclists raised a fantastic £2678.37 for the Alzheimer’s Society, Hambleton and Richmondshire District.”

Susan Broster, Day Support Services Manager for the Alzheimer’s Society, Hambleton and Richmondshire applauded their great achievement and said that the money raised will be used towards the purchase of audio visual equipment for reminiscing at the Castle Close Day Centre, Northallerton.

Andrew Van Parys added: “The Alzheimer’s Society does some really great work and it was an honour for the Northallerton and District Round Table to support such a good cause.”
