Local at-home care company, Home Instead, in Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk, are delighted to have delivered 50 gifts to the Ripon Salvation Army’s Reach Out Centre for local people who otherwise might not receive a gift at Christmas.

The Reach Out Centre is a hive of activity throughout the year providing lunch clubs every week, and at this time of year, a team of volunteers cook a hot Christmas dinner and provide festivities on Christmas Day to those living in the local community who are alone and for various reasons may have very little to celebrate.

The gifts that Home Instead kindly donated will be given to the guests on the 25th December. Corps Leader Stephanie Ruddy of the Salvation Army commented: “The gifts are very much appreciated and without such generosity from outside organisations we wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do - the help from Home Instead has been fantastic.”

Owner of Home Instead in Harrogate, Sheena Van Parys said, “It was a great pleasure to be able to help the Salvation Army at this time of year. They do such good work and we were glad to help and to be involved in the Christmas plans at the Ripon Reach Out Centre.

“We provide care to older people in their own homes. Our clients are assured of regular company from their caregivers but we are hoping that our donation to the Salvation Army will allow us to reach out to people in our community who, perhaps, don’t receive as many visitors as our clients and who would really appreciate knowing that local people are thinking about them this Christmas.”

Home Instead is changing the way care is delivered in the UK. Their service is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is totally flexible to meet client needs and is available from as little as 1 hour to 24 hours a day or live-in, seven days a week.
