Local home care company Home Instead recently teamed up with local food suppliers, Johnson’s of Thirsk and Arthur Haigh to promote and support Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
Home Instead who support older people in their own homes know the importance of eating a good breakfast and felt it was important to get involved with Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which is held annually by HGCA (Home Grown Cereals Authority).
Sheena Van Parys, owner of Home Instead commented ‘the aim of the campaign is to raise awareness on the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast; it gives you energy to kick start the day.
A nutritious diet is essential as we get older and with one in four people skipping breakfast we want to help raise awareness of how important breakfast is in your diet.’
With the support of Johnson’s of Thirsk butchers who kindly donated their sausages and Arthur Haigh Ltd who generously gave their famous Doreen’s black pudding, the team of carers from Home Instead were able to deliver and cook a fantastic locally produced breakfast to their clients.
Home Instead is changing the way care is delivered in the UK. Their service is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands.
The service is totally flexible to meet client needs and is available from as little as 1 hour to 24 hours a day or live-in, seven days a week.
