Leading Care Company run Client Council Event
Home Instead feel it is important to understand and learn from our client's what their main focus and barriers were to help them to remain safe and live comfortably in their own home.
Lisa Stirk Community Co-Ordinator set out to create a Client Council which would represent what their client's were telling them, are the main issues they needed assistance with.
In April this year, Lisa personally invited 3 Client's that represented their clients across the board to attend an initial meeting to talk through what should be the main priorities and focus of the Council.
Loneliness and feeling isolated was the main concern they had and felt that starting to run regular events, talks and outings would be a great start to help combat this issue.
On Friday 21st June we held our first event at 'The Ritz Cinema' situated within 'The Granby' residential home on the Stray in Harrogate. We had 6 friends of Home Instead and 7 residents from the Granby join us. It was a full house as we showed the film 'My Favourite Year' featuring Peter O'Toole.
It was a wonderful afternoon and one of our amazing CAREGiver's very kindly baked and supplied cakes for everyone to enjoy. The Client Council also requested that any monies raised from putting on events and raffles should be donated to a charity close to their hearts. The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.
The council meet every other month to discuss up and coming events along with ways we can support our clients to remain living independently and safely with the help of their amazing CAREGiver's.
