It's Business as Usual For Harrogate Care Company
Here at Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon, and Thirsk, it has been business as usual for us during lockdown. As essential key workers supporting older people within their own homes, we continue to provide care and support to our clients, whether they need help with everyday activities such as getting up and ready for the day starting with a good hearty breakfast to relaxing at the end of the day, in the comfort and safety of their own home with a hot nutritional home cooked meal. Our team are on hand to help with shopping as well as meal preparation, meal planning, home help, medication prescription collections and even pet care. Perhaps you have recently come out of hospital or recovering from an illness and just need some help to get you back on your feet again back in the comfort and safety of your own home.
Many of our clients are in the extremely vulnerable category and are shielding, which means they must stay at home and socially isolate from family and friends. During this period of self-isolation, as well as providing help with everyday living within the home we can also telephone your loved one regularly to make sure they are well and have a good chat with them over the phone to keep them company if we can’t be with them in person or in addition to our usual visits.
Communication is vitally important more than ever during these challenging times and we have made sure that we have kept our clients and their families well informed of any changes to our usual service as dictated to by Government advice and guidance during this pandemic. We have followed the guidance meticulously and made sure that we continue to have a plentiful supply of PPE, including gloves, aprons, over shoes, fluid resistant face masks, face visors and hand sanitiser. We have access to a consistent and steady supply of approved face masks.
The safety of our clients and our employees is paramount, and our team always wear the appropriate face masks if they are within 2 metres of our clients and replace them after every visit or sooner if they are touched and contaminated.
All our employees have been trained in infection control and correct hand washing procedures. They all understand the symptoms associated with Covid-19 and know what action to take if they develop themselves a new continuous cough, high temperature or loss or change to their sense of smell or taste.
We have the resources and capacity to deal with any necessary absences from work to ensure your service is continuous and unaffected.
We have continued to recruit and train fabulous local people to join our team during the lockdown by embracing the new opportunities provided by remote working and video conferencing.
While our CAREGivers have been out and about working in the community since lockdown began, the Ripley office remained open for 2 hours a day to reduce social contact, but our office team were busy working from home. They have been set up with a workstation and phone, allowing all telephone calls to our main number to be answered as usual. We also use Zoom as a great way to hold virtual meetings and keep in touch with each other, to ensure everyone feels engaged with the team.
With the easing of lockdown, we have now taken the next step and we have 5 office employees back in our Ripley office permanently. For their return we have carried out individual workers risk assessments and put procedures in place to ensure that they are safe. After the office was deep cleaned, we marked out the office space with yellow tape to indicate 2 metre spacing, we have created ‘safe zones’ to ensure that people do not come closer than 2 metres when passing, relevant signage has been put in place to highlight 2 metre spacing and regular handwashing. The staff clean all touchpoints in the office throughout the day and visitors are met outside with 2 metres distancing applied.
The safety and the well being of our employees and clients is always at the forefront of all our decisions and actions. We believe that we are taking all the necessary measures to ensure this and to continue to support seniors living in our community and to continue to recruit like-minded people to help with the demand for our services.
There is no better place to live now than within the comfort and safety of your own and if you need any help to do this, then please get in touch, we are here if you need us.
