Local company Home Instead who support and assist older people living in their own homes in and around the towns of Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk, have generously donated 60 gifts to the Ripon branch of the Salvation Army. The team at Home Instead wrapped up the gifts and hand delivered them to the Ripon Salvation Army’s Reach Out Centre. The Reach Out Centre is a hive of activity throughout the year providing lunch clubs every week, and at this time of year, a team of volunteers cook a hot Christmas dinner and provide festivities on Christmas Day to those living in the local community who are alone and for various reasons may have very little to celebrate.
The gifts that Home Instead kindly donated will be given to the guests on the 25th December. Corps Leader Stephanie Ruddy of the Salvation Army commented: ‘the gifts are very much appreciated and without such generosity from outside organisations we wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do, the help from Home Instead has been fantastic’.
Sheena Van Parys, owner of Home Instead added: ‘it was a great pleasure to be able to help the Salvation Army at this time of year, they do such good work and we were glad to help and to be involved in the Christmas plans at the Ripon Reach Out Centre. The Home Instead network on a global scale donates gifts to good causes every year so it was nice for us to do this at such a local level working within the local community’.
