Care Company receives help from Local Senior Schools

Harrogate Care Company receive help from local secondary schools

In these uncertain times when there is so much worry and concern regarding our loved ones and elderly relatives, there are people out there that are coming together and supporting their communities.  Harrogate Grammar School and St John Fisher Catholic High School are just two of the extraordinary groups to show their support in times of need.

Home Instead were absolutely delighted when they received a call letting them know that 80 units of face shields and eye protection glasses had been made available for them by the amazing work from the Design Teams and Science Departments  of two local schools, who were able to  assist with the high demand of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), enabling the caregivers at Home Instead to continue in supporting their clients within our local community.

Owners of Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk, Sheena and Andrew Van Parys are overjoyed by the kind generosity of Harrogate Grammar School and St John Fisher Catholic High School during these difficult circumstances.

The service Home Instead offers to their clients is reliant on having and wearing the correct equipment for the safety of both clients and staff, especially when delivering personal care and unable to display the social distancing rule.

Sheena Van Parys said “our caregivers are essential front line key workers who support and care for the elderly living in their own homes. Our hardworking and dedicated caregivers ensure that our clients are safe and well in their own homes, and we will continue to support them even when they are unwell and showing symptoms of Covid-19. The kind donations from Harrogate Grammar School and St John Fisher Catholic High School of protective eye wear will enable our caregivers to continue to support our clients who may display symptoms and at the same time keep our caregivers safe and help reduce the risk to them of any possible transmission of the disease so they can continue to provide much needed care and support in the community. The eye protection glasses and shields are a fantastic addition to our personal protective equipment for our caregivers and we are very grateful for such community support and spirit”

Families of the clients who Home Instead care for, have not held back on letting their feelings be known about the amazing high standard of care all the staff are continuing to deliver in such unprecedented circumstances. One client’s daughter even went as far to say that “her Mother would not be here if it was not for Home Instead and our Caregivers who are all exceptional”

Home Instead’s service is personal and tailored to the needs of each individual. It’s a unique proposition that centres around visiting clients for a minimum of one hour at a time and matching them to CAREGiver's who have common interests.
