Elderly residents from East Thirsk were treated to a delicious, traditional Sunday roast dinner this week compliments of Home Instead who was celebrating the launch of their at-home care service in the Thirsk area.
26 elderly guests from the area joined the team from Home Instead, at East Thirsk Community Hall where Thirsk’s very own Johnson’s Butchers provided a full Sunday roast of pork, stuffing, vegetables and gravy. All of the guests brought a prize along to be raffled to raise money for Age Concern in Northallerton.
Local Thirsk lady and owner of Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk, Sheena Van Parys, said “This was a great way to introduce ourselves to the local community. I am a local resident myself, and so I am very excited to be able to provide our services for my home town. I would like to thank East Thirsk Community Hall, Johnson's Butchers and all those who volunteered and helped to make the lunch a great success and a very enjoyable occasion.”
Following the recent expansion, Home Instead will be creating up to 30 new jobs in the area and urgently need more Caregivers to look after clients in Harrogate, Ripon, Thirsk and the surrounding areas.
“I am keen to talk to local people with compassionate and caring natures who are interested in working with elderly people. Candidates don’t need to have experience in the care sector as they will receive excellent training, however they may well have experience looking after a relative or friend” says Sheena.
Home Instead services are flexible to the needs of each at-home client. These can include personal care such as assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and medications; home help covering all aspects of day-to-day housework, shopping, meal preparation and household duties; and companionship services that can involve everything from escorting clients on visits or appointments to simple conversation and good company.
