I am writing to you in the hope of rallying support for a heart-warming new initiative being launched in Thirsk and Ripon this Christmas.
It’s called ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ and the aim is to ensure that elderly people in our community, who would otherwise not receive a gift this Christmas, receive one this year.
The way it works is simple we ask local retailers to display a ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ Christmas tree. The tree is decorated with gift tags which identify the first name of a local person and the gift they would enjoy receiving. Members of the public can then buy the named gift and leave it with the retailer for collection and delivery by the Home Instead team.
I am already busy working with local charities and volunteer groups to identify people in our community who would benefit from this initiative.
What we need now are local retailers to come forward and partner with us on this scheme. If there are any shop owners out there who would like to support this unique initiative, please feel free to contact me at Home Instead on Thirsk 01845 440510/Ripon 01765 530400 or email me at [email protected]
With the right support we can make a real difference to the lives of many elderly people in our community.
