A wonderful December for Home Instead
The Staff at Home Instead, Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk have thoroughly enjoyed all of the activity and fun leading up to the Festive Season.
They have been invited to be a part of many community events and have met some wonderful people along the way.
Lisa Stirk Community Co-Ordinator had the help of her colleagues to represent the deliver on her promises in offering Raffle Prizes, Wrapping Events, Christmas cafe's, Pantomimes and Carol Services to mention but a few.
Lisa, Mel and Carol enjoyed a wonderful evening at the December meeting for Dementia Connections where Lisa and Carol presented to the group about Home Instead and the role of CAREGiver when working cloesly with a client who is living with Dementia. Home Instead were delighted to bring along mince pies and Christmas cake for all to enjoy.
We ran two 'All Wrapped up for Christmas' sessions at Independent Living Facilities in Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk. Lisa attended with the help of two A'Level' Student elves to help and assist with wrapping gifts for the residents friedns and families.
Sheena and Carol presented the star prize Hamper at Arthington Court Christmas Coffee Morning, where all of the residents enjoyed festive treats and a chance to get together for social cuppa.
Lisa joined the Team from SOP (Supporting Older People) who ran a wonderful Tea and Talk at the Crown Hotel in Harrogate and we saw 40 senior members of our community thoroughly enjoy a sing'a'long and splendid afternoon tea. Each person who attended took home a gift from Home Instead which was a Christmas Pudding and a bottle of port or whisky. Everybody had such a fantastic time and left in great spirit.
Lisa and the Team went along to the Memory Lane cafe Pantomime followed by a buffet and afternoon Carol Service at Gracious Street Methodist Church, Knaresborough as well as Singing for te Brain carol Service at Christ Church, Harrogate. They were beautiful services and a time for us all to come together and share a special moment reflecting on the amazing year we have all had as a group.
Sheena and Kate volunteered at the 'Friends of Ripley' TLC Christmas Lunch at All Saint's Church, Ripley where children from the local school entertained the attendees as they enjoyed a festive lunch in the church. Sheena and Kate loved every minute and were delighted to sponsor the crackers and napkins at this years lunch.
Here at Home Instead we run a Companionship Cafe every month in Ripon and Thirsk and we had great fun with our regulars enjoying some festive arts and crafts whilst listening to Christmas cheer and seasonal goodies whilst chatting and enjoying each other's company.
Andrew was invited to join Parkinson's Harrogate Branch at 'The George' Wormald Green, where they had a great Christmas Lunch and reflected on the successes of 2019. We are very much looking forward to working closely with the committee at their events in 2020.
Lisa ended the year at the 'Green Hut' Music and Movement Group, Harlow Hill as the 20 regulars turned up in Christmas Jumpers and festive Head Gear. We enjoyed a fantastic buffet and it was a wonderful end to such a great year in the hut. We all look forward to coming back together on Tuesday 14th January.

We all had a wonderful time and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy New year.
