Thirsk Organisations Bring Christmas Cheer Early

Christmas cheer came early to the residents of East Thirsk as local organisations including; East Thirsk Community Association, The Thirsk Rotary Club, Tesco, Johnson’s of Thirsk, The Greengrocer Thirsk, Well Heeled, Co-op, Crafts of Thirsk and Home Instead Senior Care recently teamed up to provide the older residents of East Thirsk with a free complementary Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

A wonderful morning spent at the cinema

Home Instead were delighted to host their third 'FREE' Dementia Friendly Screening at the Everyman, Harrogate Cinema on Monday 9th September. 28 welcomed visitors thoroughly enjoyed watch Stan & Ollie and it was an amazing atmosphere. laughs and singing were heard coming from Screen 5 during the very relaxed and fun showing of this film. What makes the Dementia Friendly Screening different from any other cinema showing is we have the sound on slightly lower, the lights are on low throughout the film and all visitors are welcome to get up and move around if that is what they wish to do. It is a safe and enjoyable environment for both people living with Dementia and their carers to come and enjoy. There are cozy blankets offered as well as tea, coffee and a slice of cake. Our next screening is on Monday 11th November where we are showing 'The Return of Mary Poppins'. 10am meet in Screen 5 private area and the film will start at 10.30am.
