Local Home Care Company Wears Denim for Dementia

The team at a local home care company have taken a fun opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, while encouraging the local community to get involved with the worthwhile cause too.

Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk who support people living in their own homes, embraced Denim for Dementia Day, an annual nationwide fundraiser, and staff jumped into their jeans and dungarees, raising £200 for the charity. To add some extra fun to the day, the team baked cakes for all the caregivers to encourage them to head down to the office and support this fabulous fundraiser with a cuppa and tasty delight.

35% of the home care company’s clients live with dementia and Caregivers, who have undergone Home Instead’s specialist dementia training assured by City & Guilds, ensure that clients living with the condition can happily and safely stay at home. All year round, staff at the home care company work hard to raise public awareness of dementia; key dates like Denim for Dementia Day are reasons to particularly shine a light on the condition.

Sheena Van Parys, Co-Owner of Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk commented: “The efforts the team have gone to get everyone involved has been amazing. We are one big team at Home Instead and it was so much fun to take part and raise local awareness and funds for dementia.

Sheena continues: “At Home Instead we aim to deliver the best dementia home care in the UK. Offering relationship-based home care, we ensure that we understand our clients’ needs and match them with caregivers that we know that they will bond with.”

Along with specialist dementia care, Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon, and Thirsk provides companionship care, meal preparation, personal care, medication reminders, shopping, and errands for clients from 1 hour a day to 24 hours a day to Live in options.
