Harrogate Care Company Delivers Specialist Training

Local care company Home Instead, which provides at-home care for people living in and around the towns of  Thirsk, Ripon and Harrogate is qualified to deliver specialist Parkinson’s training to their team of caregivers.

Home Instead have partnered with the Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network and Sheena Van Parys, co-owner of Home Instead has  attended the ‘Parkinson’s Explored – A Train the Trainer Course’ to gain the necessary skills to deliver the ‘Parkinson’s Explained’ workshop to her care team.

The ‘Parkinson’s Explained’ workshop is designed to support and educate professional care staff and family carers of people living with Parkinson’s to improve their understanding of the condition. The workshop aims to promote and share models of good practice in care by addressing the challenges experienced by people with Parkinson’s including mobility, swallowing, communication and other daily activities, helping to ensure these challenges are fully understood by those providing care, support and companionship.

Sheena Van Parys explained, “Here at Home Instead we provide care and support to many clients who are living with Parkinson’s. We want our care team to be experts in their field; trained and fully equipped to provide effective care to their clients, so we know how important the ‘Parkinson’s Explained’ course is for our caregivers.”
