Home Instead who support and care for people living at home in and around the towns of Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk want to raise awareness on the menopause.
As part of the global menopause awareness month in October, the 18th October marked the recognition of World Menopause Day. Here at Home Instead , we helped to raise awareness of this natural process, breaking down stigma and highlighting the variety of support options available for improving health and wellbeing.
At Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon & Thirsk, we hosted a special menopause awareness event for our employees.
Following the previous April event, local nutritionist Vicky Richardson from Core Nutritional Therapy returned to discuss this challenging topic and offer wellbeing advice for our employees. It highlighted the importance of diet and lifestyle on the ageing process, often decreasing the worrying and challenging but natural symptoms of the menopause .
This event was a safe space for discussion and queries, on a journey that many share together. Sheena Van Parys, co-owner of Home Instead stated; ‘the event was very helpful providing lots of knowledge and guidance to support us as we go through these changes in our lives. Vicky provided some delicious healthy snacks to sample and some great alternatives to sugary, less nutritious options‘.
