Home Instead are a local care organisation based in Harrogate and in August the team hosted a dementia friendly screening of the film The Fisherman's Friends.
With the support of the Everyman Cinema in Harrogate, Home Instead hosted a screening of the film, The Fisherman’s Friends, for those who are living with dementia. The film was shown in a comfortable environment with the lights on low, the sound lowered and without any adverts which can make the film too long in length.
Around 30 people turned up to enjoy the film and the Everyman Harrogate kindly supplied complimentary tea and coffee.
The team at Home Instead were on hand to help before, during and after the screening to ensure that everyone felt safe and comfortable .
As an added bonus, local company Beaucare donated ‘goody bags’ including shortbread biscuits to each attendee. Beaucare supply medical equipment , including mobility aids and products to assist people living with dementia and to help keep people as independent as possible in their own home .
Sheena Van Parys, co-owner of Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk said; ‘it is great that local organisations have got together to support this regular event and as always we are very grateful to the Everyman Harrogate for these screenings’
