Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk is a provider of Award Winning Care at Home services to elderly people living in this beautiful part of North Yorkshire.
Owned and operated by husband & wife team Andrew and Sheena Van Parys we both share a clear vision of providing the means for older people to remain living independently in their own homes with the care and support that our team of CAREGivers provides whilst at the same time helping to shape the local community into one which embraces the needs of its older population.
We opened Home Instead in 2010 following our own first-hand experience of how hard it was to find good quality care for our own family.
Andrew's grandmother was diagnosed with vascular dementia, his 90 year old grandfather required daily care and Sheena's mother lived with Alzheimer's. All were able to remain at home until they sadly passed away.
It was however a constant struggle to find and receive quality care for them in their own homes. We quickly realised that families needed a different approach to supporting people at home than that which was currently available and so we made the decision to open a Home Instead office in order to help members of our own local community.
Quite simply Home Instead aims to be the Home Care service provider of first choice for elderly people in and around Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk as well as having a positive impact on the wider community as a whole.
All support is bespoke and individually planned for each client. Visits are not rushed (minimum of 1 hour) and Home Instead understands the importance of spending time supporting clients on a social and emotional level as well as getting the necessary 'jobs' done. This enables our CAREGivers to form a close relationship with their clients, providing a person centred service which is built around the requirements of each individual. This can vary from assistance with shopping trips, companionship, escorting to appointments or social engagements as well as home help, meal preparation, personal care, support with medication and much, much more.
Home Instead recognises that some clients have more specialist needs and so we have invested heavily in training programmes for staff in many areas but especially in supporting people living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia and more recently Parkinson’s.
We are personally involved in the recruitment of all CAREGivers who need to pass our ‘Mum Test’ – put simply we recruit CAREGivers who we would be happy to look after our own Mums!
CAREGivers will encourage, stimulate and assist clients in a variety of day to day activities to maintain their independence and improve their quality of life
All CAREGivers are carefully chosen for their empathy and nurturing qualities, their caring and respectful approach to the elderly, their reliability and their willingness to match their valuable skills with the excellent training that Home Instead has to offer.
All staff have gone through a rigorous selection process which includes enhanced police checks and the provision of six references before training begins. This recruitment and training approach leads to the provision of a high quality service and a contented, happy team.
