At Home Instead Hammersmith & Chiswick, one of the things we care most about is making sure our clients and Care Professionals are well matched. It’s not just about someone having the right experience or availability – we care about the whole person.

Experience tells us that when people get on well and feel at ease with each other, care becomes more enjoyable, more comfortable, and more effective.

We want everyone we support to feel confident and happy about who’s coming into their home, and we want our Care Professionals to feel the same way about who they’re visiting. It’s all about building a trusting relationship that works for both sides.

We Take Time to Understand Our Clients

Before we even start providing care, we sit down with clients and their families to learn as much as we can. We ask about all sorts of things such as hobbies, interests, past jobs, what kind of personality they get on with, even favourite pets or music. These details go into a personalised care plan, which is much more than just a list of tasks. It’s a guide that helps us deliver care in a way that suits the individual.

Our local management team stays in touch regularly through service reviews and other check-ins. This helps us get to know our clients better over time, which improves our service.

Getting to Know Our Care Professionals

To match people well, we also need to really know our Care Professionals. That’s why every new Care Professional gives us lots of information when they join us. It’s a good way to get a good picture of their personality, interests and background. We learn what makes them tick, the kind of people they naturally connect with, and what kind of support they most enjoy providing.

We use this as a foundation to build relationships with each Care Professional – it’s not just paperwork. We also hold regular team meetings, catch-ups, and social events to help strengthen our team spirit and make sure everyone feels part of the Home Instead family.

The Matching Process

When we’re planning care, we look at all the information we have about our clients and Care Professionals. Then we match people based on shared interests, compatible personalities, and practical things like location and travel time. If we know someone loves chatting about local history, for example, and we have a Care Professional who shares that interest, that’s a great fit.

We also try to keep journeys short and straightforward, which makes things easier for our Care Professionals and more reliable for our clients, especially when weather or traffic could cause disruption.

Why Matching Makes a Difference

We’ve seen time and time again how a good match can make all the difference. It’s the difference between someone just receiving support and someone actually looking forward to their visits. We want our clients to feel cared for, valued and understood.

Supporting Long-Term Relationships

We aim to keep the same Care Professionals visiting the same clients wherever possible. This builds trust, avoids confusion, and helps relationships grow over time. By knowing our team and our clients well, we’re in a strong position to keep those pairings working smoothly.

Whether it’s helping someone with dementia who needs gentle reassurance, or supporting someone with lots of energy who loves a good chat, the right match means we can provide care, companionship and comfort.
