Discover the steps on our recruitment journey to starting your caring job at Home Instead Fareham. Learn about our values-based approach to care.
At Home Instead Fareham, we understand that the heart of excellent care is about more than just skills—it’s about compassion, empathy, and a dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of older adults. With this in mind, we’ve designed our recruitment and induction process to find and nurture those people who share our deep-rooted values.
Our recruitment manager, Molly, kicks off your journey with an informal chat. This initial meeting is as much for you as it is for us. It’s your chance to learn about the role of our Care Professionals, the expectations, and the profound difference you could make in someone’s life.
But it’s not just about the details of the job. This chat is where we get a sense of your values and motivations. We believe that character traits like caring, empathy, and compassion are crucial—far more so than your previous experience.
Following the chat, if we feel you would be a good fit for our team, and you’re interested in the journey, we’ll invite you to a structured interview. Here, we assess your values and aptitude for the role. We delve deeper into understanding how you can contribute to the care we’re known for—personal, dedicated, and heartfelt.
Andrea, our training manager, then takes the helm for three days of face-to-face training. With her background as a Care Professional herself, Andrea brings empathy and a tailored approach to the training experience. Recognising that everyone comes to us with different backgrounds, she adjusts her style according to your unique work history and learning preferences.
Throughout every interaction, from the informal chat to the comprehensive training, we continually apply the ‘Mum Test’. It’s simple but powerful: would we be comfortable with you caring for our own mother? It’s a benchmark that ensures we’re all striving for the highest standard of care and compassion.
After successful completion of the induction programme, Molly will ease you into your new role. You’ll be introduced to the rest of our office team, who will be there to support you through your first three months. We know how crucial it is to feel supported as you find your feet, so Molly maintains contact with new recruits, making sure your experience meets your needs and expectations.
If you’re considering a role with us, remember that we’re always here for an informal talk to answer any questions. Whether you’re ready to jump in or you’re still wondering if care is the right path for you, we welcome you to call or drop by our local office at Fort Fareham Business Park. We’ll greet you with a warm cup of tea or coffee, and if you’re lucky, a slice of cake is often on offer too!
Choosing to become a Care Professional with Home Instead Fareham means joining a team that values heart and invests in building your skills. If this sounds like the role for you, we can’t wait to get to know you better.
