The Epsom & Dorking Companionship Care team, here to help every step of the way

In Surrey, a third of older adults living at home are living alone, making loneliness a growing concern across the county. What may begin as a few quiet days can gradually turn into lasting isolation, especially after the loss of a partner or when getting out becomes more difficult. At Home Instead Epsom and Mole Valley, we provide award-winning home care to those who want to remain independent in the comfort of their own home, but also like a bit of company. For 15 years, our service has been rated Outstanding by the CQC, and in that time, we’ve seen the difference a meaningful connection has. Our companionship care is built on trusted relationships that help people feel like themselves again, living where they want, how they want.

Why Companionship Care may be right for you

Many don’t realise there’s a difference between care and companionship, but there is. While personal care focuses on physical support, our companionship care is about connection: someone to talk to, spend time with, and share interests. This could be joining in on a walk around Rosebery Park, going for a coffee at Rico, or simply having company at home. It’s also a way for families to take a break, knowing their loved one is in safe, friendly hands. We carefully match each client with a care professional who suits their personality, so the relationship feels comfortable from the start. Whether it’s regular visits or occasional check-ins, our companionship care helps your loved one feel their best while receiving support at home.

We as a family found the carers and staff at Home Instead to be extremely helpful. I cannot emphasise enough how valuable the service given to my parents was and would definitely recommend Home Instead to others.

Home Instead has been providing services for my mother for over two years and I cannot praise them enough. As well as practical help, the visits are stimulating and a social highlight. I don’t know how we could have coped through the pandemic without them. The professionalism of the entire team is outstanding.

I have been very impressed with the quality of service and efficiency of all aspects of Home Instead for well over a year. The Care Professional they provided, invariably the same one, was superb. My wife looked forward to her visits. The admin staff answered phone calls immediately, unusual in today’s world, and dealt with any questions promptly. I was 100% delighted with Home Instead.

First-rate care for my elderly mother enabled her to stay in her own home until her death, which is what she always wanted. Wonderfully empathetic and experienced carers who worked with her dementia with great understanding and sympathy. They never once let us down and I bless the day a friend recommended them.

Tailored Companionship Care in Epsom & Dorking

Our companionship care often begins as a simple way to stay connected to the things we love, but it can also be a gentle first step into longer-term support. For example, one client began with weekly visits, where her Care Professional would accompany her to her aqua aerobics class at the Rainbow Leisure Centre. Over time, her care professional noticed small changes, like an empty fridge, that showed she might need a little more help. Because they’d already built a trusted relationship, increasing support felt natural and never like a loss of independence. Sometimes, it all starts with something small. Becoming familiar with a helping hand early can make the transition into home care feel easier, more personal, and entirely on your terms.
