Last Wednesday, Home Instead Epping Forest hosted its inaugural Summer Tea Dance, in Theydon Bois Village Hall, drawing a remarkable crowd spanning different generations. This heartening event brought together clients, their families, and local community members for an unforgettable afternoon of shared joy.
As guests stepped in, they were met with a warm and personal welcome that set the tone for a gathering that felt as cosy as home. tables were adorned with charming tablecloths, dainty serviettes, fresh blooms, and elegant china cups and saucers, setting the scene for an afternoon of special summer celebrations. The dedicated Home Instead team served teas, coffees, cupcakes, and an array of delectable cakes, adding to the event’s ambiance.
The attendees represented a diverse array of ages, contributing to the vibrant mosaic of the event. From the youngest guest, Victoria’s daughter, Lottie, nearly 2 years old, to one of our esteemed clients at the remarkable age of 101, the room was brimming with smiles and laughter.
The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the presence of our special guests, Martin and Emma of Steps Ahead Dance Academy. Their graceful demonstration of the Waltz, Jive, and Foxtrot was met with awe and admiration. Martin and Emma kindly offered brief guidance on basic steps, inspiring many to take to the dance floor. The music they orchestrated had a magnetic effect, drawing guests into a joyous dance that filled the hall with laughter and camaraderie. Among the tunes that resonated with the attendees, “Sweet Caroline” emerged as a clear favourite, prompting spontaneous sing-alongs and heartwarming connections.
We celebrated a milestone birthday. One of our long-standing clients marked his 101st birthday, surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, and granddaughter. They brought along two exquisite birthday cakes, which were enjoyed by all.
Also present was Michael Bird, a talented photographer, capturing the essence of the event through his lens. These photographs would soon become treasured keepsakes, preserving the memories of the heartwarming gathering.
The response we received from attendees really pleased us. Here are excerpts from a couple of the emails we received:
“I am just sending this to congratulate you on the brilliant tea dance you organised for last Wednesday, it went so well. Everyone obviously enjoyed it, and I know Marion and I particularly enjoyed it.”
“Thank you SO much for organising my dad’s birthday congrats at your amazing event yesterday. As I mentioned, I was absolutely bowled over by seeing what a wonderful event you’d organised. It was so heart-warming to see everyone coming together with so much joy and in all honesty, gives us all something to look forward to for when we’re older. I can definitely see why my parents look forward to your events: they’re fun, welcoming and clearly loved by all. From the lovely venue (and Theydon Bois Village Hall really is a particularly nice one) to all your lovely, warm, and welcoming staff, to the brilliant music (who wouldn’t want to get up and dance?), you’ve thought of everything. It was brilliant and a huge testament to your organisation, a lovely way of making everyone feel welcome, and all the amazing staff at Home Instead. We were also hugely touched about the kind words and happy birthday songs that you organised for my dad’s 101st. Thank you!’
We extend a special thank you to Maureen for her tireless dedication in orchestrating this successful event. The positive feedback we’ve received only fuels our enthusiasm, and we’re excited to announce that more such heartwarming events are on the horizon.
