When we welcome new Care Professionals to the Home Instead Epping Forest team, we don’t just offer a job – we open the door to a fulfilling career. Many of our team members started as Care Professionals and have progressed into leadership and specialist roles.

Here’s how career progression works in practice, through the stories of some of our amazing colleagues:

Vicky Claxton: From Care Professional to Registered Care Manager

Vicky joined Home Instead in December 2013 after a career in banking. She was looking for a complete change; something meaningful that worked around her family. The idea of offering companionship and helping people stay in their own homes really appealed to her.

As her children grew, so did Vicky’s career. She moved into a Client Manager role, became a Client Team Manager, then Operations Manager, and has recently been approved by the CQC as our Registered Care Manager.

“No day is the same here. There’s always a fresh challenge. Supporting our clients to stay independent in their own homes brings real job satisfaction.” – Vicky

Vicky has completed extensive training, from Medication and End of Life care to a Level 5 qualification in Operational Departmental Management.

When she’s not leading the team, she’s an early morning swimmer, enjoys walks with her Yorkshire terrier Coco, and loves shopping with her daughter Lily.

Debbie Dore: Following Her Heart into a Caring Career

Debbie came to Home Instead in 2014 after 23 years in customer service and credit control. Following redundancy, she decided to follow her passion for caring, and never looked back.

Over the past decade, Debbie has become a pillar of our team, specialising in recruitment, training, and Care Professional support. She delivers all our initial training and helps new team members feel confident from day one. Feedback on her sessions consistently scores 100% in our independent staff surveys.

Debbie is also a Dementia Friends Ambassador with the Alzheimer’s Society and regularly runs community sessions to raise awareness of dementia and offer support.

“Watching clients sing and dance at our Memory Café is a joy. But what’s most rewarding is helping my colleagues gain the skills and confidence they need to provide outstanding care.” – Debbie

Outside of her work, Debbie loves running, fishing, and cheering on her son at football matches.

A Team That Grows Together

Everyone in our office team began their journey as a Care Professional. Our newest member, Megan, has recently joined the office as a Weekend Supervisor, balancing her role with raising her young daughter. Her flexible working pattern allows her to grow her career without compromising on family life.
