Making Connections and Changing Lives During Dementia Action Week

Home Instead East Herts embarked on a journey of community engagement during Dementia Action Week. We were determined to reach out to everyone we met! Breaking down barriers and showcasing our genuine care for the wellbeing and quality of life of every individual.

Dementia Action Week: Raising Awareness and Promoting Action

Dementia Action Week, which took place from 15th to 21st May, served as a powerful platform for raising awareness and inspiring action in the face of dementia.

Organised by Alzheimer’s Society, in collaboration with various individuals and organisations across the UK, this week aimed to encourage people to take meaningful steps towards understanding and supporting those affected by dementia.

Our mission was clear: make a positive impact & foster connections that truly matter

Throughout the week, we actively spread awareness about dementia and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.

We engaged in conversations, shared vital information, and urged people to take action.

Our focus was not only on the challenges but also on the importance of early diagnosis, which plays a pivotal role in accessing appropriate support and care.

We used Dementia Action Week as a time for us to forge strong connections within the community. We visited:

  • Emily’s Alzheimer’s society support group
  • Forever cycling
  • Hailey Centre in Sawbridgeworth
  • Grange paddocks leisure centre for the Dementia awareness and support event
  • Little Hadham Village Hall Digital Hub
  • Had a stall along the Bishops Stortford high street amongst the market traders

Our dedicated team of Care Professionals and the office team really went above and beyond. They reached out to individuals, families, and organisations to provide support and share expertise. We were, and still are, determined to make a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.

As Dementia Action Week concluded, the impact of our efforts remained imprinted on the lives of those we touched. At Home Instead East Herts, we believe that genuine care goes beyond physical assistance; it involves building connections, raising awareness, and fostering a supportive community.
