Home Instead Senior Care in Macclesfield, a company that specialises in providing care and support to older people in their own homes, recently received an unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and were delighted with the results.
Home Instead met all the essential government standards of health and safety set by the CQC and received high praise from their clients. When asked if the service was good one client replied, "I should say they are", they explained that they got on "like a house on fire" with their carers and they "enjoy their visits".
Another client felt that they were able to approach their carer whether they were "happy or not". The same client was pleased that they see the same care worker each visit and if a new person is sent they are introduced. They also described a recent incident where the provider had come out to help them with an issue that was not part of their care package. They summarised that "Home Instead are in a category of their own, over and above others".
CQC are the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England and it’s their job to make sure that care provided by hospitals, dentists, ambulances, care homes and services in people’s own homes, meets government standards of quality and safety. The government standards cover all aspects of care, including: treating people with dignity and respect, making sure food and drink meets people’s needs, making sure that that the environment is clean and safe and managing and staffing services.
Owners of Home Instead in Macclesfield, Steve and Julie Akroyd had this to say about the report, “We’re so delighted with the outcome of our latest CQC report, especially with the fantastic comments about our team. Our aim is to improve our clients’ quality of life to the best of our ability and help them to remain independent and happy at home. It’s great to hear that all our hard work and dedication to both our clients and service has been acknowledged.” Steve continues “There have been some negative reports in regards to the care industry recently but we mustn’t forget that quality care continues to be delivered to thousands of people on a daily basis.”
