Changing the face of homecare in Cheshire East
Home Instead's unique philosophy which sees home care and companionship go hand-in-hand has received standout ratings from its clients and employees in brand new independent research.
Home Instead Senior Care East Cheshire delivers a relationship-led home care service which helps older people to live in the comfort and familiarity of their own home as long as possible.
Its approach includes home care visits that last a minimum of one hour so there’s always time to talk with the Home Instead way - which keeps loneliness amongst an ageing population at bay.
Now clients and CAREGivers in Cheshire East have given the unique model a huge vote of confidence – as both a homecare provider and an employer in turn – 100% of clients would recommend Home Instead and 100% of CAREGivers are proud to work for the company.
Home Instead believes the new independent research, carried out in June this year, is living proof that there is a better way to deliver homecare*.
What clients said:
- 100% say their CAREGiver takes an interest in them as a person
- 100% say their CAREGiver is well matched to their needs
- 93% say their CAREGiver goes the extra mile to make a positive difference to their life
- 93% say their CAREGiver was properly introduced before they started working with them
- 100% rate the quality of the service as good or excellent
Delighted with the findings, Steve & Julie Akroyd, Owners of Home Instead East Cheshire, said:
“We are committed to providing only the very best care and companionship to our clients and it is good to know that we are getting it right. We take time to care, both for our clients and our CAREGivers. It’s good to know that we are getting it right in their eyes too.'
“Our calls are a minimum of one hour because we believe quality care can’t be delivered in less. And we make sure that our clients are carefully matched to their CAREGivers. The survey results demonstrate just how important this is, as 100% of clients agreed that their CAREGiver is matched to their needs and 100% feel their CAREGiver takes an interest in them as a person. We believe relationship-led homecare has to have these core principles at its heart.'
“But changing the face of home care isn’t just about our clients. It is also about our CAREGivers, the incredible people who go the extra mile each and every day caring for their clients, special people who are recruited for their empathy and compassion.”
The results show that CAREGivers feel valued, respected and part of the bespoke Home Instead ethos: 97% understood why Home Instead is different from other care companies, 97% say they are given enough time to deliver desired levels of care to clients, 94% would recommend Home Instead to a friend or family member as a place to work, 94% would recommend its services to friend and 97% say their job gives them the opportunity to learn and develop new skills.
Steve added: “The results endorse the difference Home Instead is making to the lives of clients and CAREGivers in East Cheshire every day. Together we are changing the face of home care.”

“ We recently received this email from one of our CAREGivers to thank us for the birthday card that we sent. I think it highlights how important we are to our clients and how important they are to us...Nicki wished to thank everyone for her Birthday card. She said Miss B made her day. She had been asking what Nicki was doing the following day and Nicki replied that when she would be finishing work she was going to the cinema for her birthday. The next morning the first thing Miss B said to her when she opened her eyes was Happy Birthday! Nicki thought it was wonderful that she had remembered. ’’
Review: The Home Instead assessor visited on May 24th and explained carefully what was involved. The carers started visiting overnight 10pm - 8am for 3 nights a week to look after my husband to enable me to sleep. The ladies who came were friendly, kind and helpful. I cannot speak highly enough of them. My husband has gone from suffering from insomnia to sleeping through the night so their help is no longer needed. His mobility is much improved so daytime help is not required. I have explained that I wouldn't hesitate to ask for help again if needed. I'm very grateful. S.K.
Review: I am a very independent person and at first, I was not keen on having a stranger caring for me, but now that I have had a CAREGiver coming to my house for 1 hour every morning I am so much better off, I have a better start to every day and I am very happy with the friendly professionalism of all 3 CAREGivers who come to my home; with being 3 of them they add variety to the conversation during their visits and they improve the quality of my life and a good start to each day.
I am also very impressed with the organisational ability and caring communication of all the office support staff and management, their attention to detail and ability to schedule the visits of all the CAREGivers every day and their excellent communication, with clients and support staff, together with the CAREGivers of Home Instead make me feel cared for in a better way than if I did not have this service from Home Instead. T.W.
Review: I have been using Home Instead Senior Care for over 7 years. Throughout this time the service has been consistently a very high standard. The ladies who are with me are always very punctual and professional and at the same time friendly and caring. H.L.
Review: My mother has been using Home Instead for approximately 2 years. She has two visits a day morning and evening. The staff are friendly and attentive and my mother sees them as companions looking forward to the visits. We have a very good team of four people providing a lovely balance of characters.
If there are any concerns or issues, I am contacted straight away by email or telephone. There are regular reviews. For my brother and I, it has been an excellent experience with Home Instead which would otherwise have been very difficult with a 90-year-old mother. G.J.
Review: Home Instead Senior Care (East Cheshire) have been providing excellent care and companionship to my father for the last 4 and a half years since my mother sadly passed away. Dad is now 91 and very much appreciates their twice daily visits. I highly recommend their caring, friendly and attentive service. T.L.
Review: Home Instead have in my reasonable experience, a superior attitude to care - meaning they are a cut above the other agencies (I've tried 5). Their carers are totally human, professional, warm, intelligent people with positivity and initiative, and many prior care companies could only provide carers who could help with practical tasks. Home Instead's hand-picked crew can engage, encourage real creativity and social connection with my bright 92-year-old father. They run a tight ship! Highly recommended.
Home Instead (East Cheshire) has shown during the last 6 years that they can provide a consistent quality service to my sister in law who has complex needs. I have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead to potential clients.
It is a pleasure to have care from Home Instead, they are both caring and professional. We are particularly pleased with the friendly and efficient manner phone calls and queries are dealt with by the office staff.
Home Instead (East Cheshire) provide friendly, interested, well-informed and professional CAREGivers. The small team involved in Mum and Dad's care are really wonderful and highly trained.
Home Instead Senior Care (East Cheshire) has made me feel valued as a CAREGiver and has given me the tools and opportunity to make a positive difference in other people's lives.
From the first phone call I felt it was going to be a positive working environment, the hour with the client means you can provide companionship and your time is not task driven.
I love my job and all my clients, it is a wonderful company to work for I have made some good friends and nothing is too much trouble. The office staff are so warm and friendly.
I have worked at Home Instead Senior Care East Cheshire for almost three years and during that time I have seen the commitment of both the owners and management team and also my fellow CAREGivers to giving our Clients a top-class service where nothing is too much trouble and they are made to feel important and their independence and quality of life is maintained as far as is possible. My needs in terms of hours, conditions, training etc. have always been met.
From the moment I walked into Home Instead East Cheshire, I was impressed with how professional, smart and friendly the company seemed. Very nice, friendly interview and they were very quick getting back to me. Training started very quickly and I how it was given.
A Lovely Testimonial From a CAREGiver
"I’d been made redundant and wasn’t sure what the next chapter of my life would hold. I saw an advertisement - CAREGivers needed by Home Instead. I had absolutely no experience as a carer but having recently had a conversation with my 90 year old mother, I realised how important remaining in your own home can be for elderly people. Having the security of familiar things around you, sitting in your own comfortable chair, having your cup of tea in a special cup and saucer that’s been given to you by a family member or waking up in the bedroom you’ve slept in for years.
I picked up the phone to make enquiries and was greeted with a warm and welcoming response – the rest, as they say, is history. I had a very informal interview, was accepted, trained and stepped into the most rewarding job I could ever have imagined. I cook, I clean, I do shopping, I wash people and many other tasks but we should never under estimate the value of sitting and holding a client’s hand when they feel sad or confused. The first day I realised that I really was making a difference was when a client said ‘you make me feel safe when you’re here with me’. Powerful words.
How many people really have the luxury of a job that they look forward to every day, yes, there are days I feel tired, days I ache and days when things get a bit messy, but all that is surpassed by the knowledge that I am enabling my clients to stay where they most wanted to be – in their own homes and that my visit is important to them. Calls are never less than an hour, so there is time to really get to know clients and for them to get to know me.
The support offered by staff at Home Instead is exceptional, they are always there behind me when I need them and always happy to listen and help when I need advice. I attend regular CAREGiver meetings where I get to know my colleagues and regular training to advance my knowledge on issues affecting the elderly.
If you are considering working as a CAREGiver I would say just one thing - DO IT – pick up the phone and walk into the best job ever."
Mr B, Adlington (family)
“ I cannot close without saying how lucky we felt that we chose your organisation, and particularly how we valued the friendship, humour and support, especially from *****, for mum over the past year. We know she really considered her as a good friend.”
Mr E, Poynton
“Thanks to the care, skill and professionalism of all the carers from Home Instead, mother was able to avoid all the ‘usual infections’ until virtually the end of her life. Indeed, her short stay in hospital in April only served to demonstrate how effective had been the care you had all given and how extremely difficult a task this was without the continuous use of an ‘air mattress’ and constant commitment to care and cleanliness.”
Mrs B, Alderley Edge
“My family and I would like to take this opportunity to thanks all the carers who have helped us over the last few months. We will certainly recommend you to other families and friends.”
Mr M, Prestbury
“I would like to place on record the grateful thanks of myself, my wife and my family to the several members of your staff who have attended to the very personal and quite serious needs of my wife following her major operation and convalescence at home. This care, given much of it on a twenty-four hour basis, has been outstanding. The attendance and support given by your staff has earned the gratitude and confidence of my wife and is assisting very much with her recovery. We are particularly grateful for the overnight attendance which has allowed members of the family to have their usual opportunity to sleep.”
Mrs J, Chorley
“We wish your company well in the future and thank you once again for the kindness, professionalism and respect you showed to a very elderly but appreciative man.”
Great British Care Awards Judge – Regional Finalist in the Dignity in Care Award
“A caregiver with a positive attitude towards dignity in care.”
Mr & Mrs H, Bollington
“Please accept this as a thank you for your recent diligent care of my mother. Without the help of you and your colleagues it wouldn’t have been possible for her to be nursed in her own home which was so important to her. Your professionalism, kindness and compassion was a great comfort to us.”
“Many thanks to all your team who have taken such good care of our mother over the last few months. We really do appreciate the kind attention she was always given by all the carers.”
“Thank you for all Home Instead did for my Mum. You were truly very kind and understanding.”
“Again, many thanks for the care and kindness in what was a very challenging situation. Please pass on Mum and Dad’s, and my, best wishes and thanks to all the carers.”
“I would like to thank you and your staff, on behalf of my mother and all the family, for the excellent care provided for my mother over the past six months. All your team members have been most professional, caring and evidently dedicated to her welfare.”
“Still very pleased with the professional and yet caring way you continue to look after my father. He talks about the ‘girls’ a lot and their daily visits make all the difference to my life too, as you know.”
Mrs M, Malvern
"I would like to express my thanks for the wonderful service you provided for Mum. In a stressful time for us all, we had confidence in you and your staff.”
Mrs W, Lower Withington
“Thank you so much for everything you have done for Mother and me during the past months. I have a great admiration for the way you do a most difficult job. I can well imagine the complexities and frustrations which it generates but you have always been so positive and helpful and have often gone further than could be expected to provide us with an exceptional service. Your help has made an immense difference to our lives and has enabled me to keep going during a very difficult period.”
Ms W, Lower Withington
“In all my contacts with Home Instead I have never failed to be impressed by the positive and helpful response to every request and the efforts made to meet my requirements. It has always been such a pleasure to interact with any of the staff and I can’t think of any occasion when I could find the slightest fault with the way they handled a situation.”
Mrs H, Chelford
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all your staff who have cared for Mum and Dad and to say how pleased we have been with the thoughtful and professional care that they have received.”
Family of client, Mr N
“Thanks for everything you did in helping Dad to manage his final months at home. You will know that he was very fond of you all and we know that you always did the very best for him even when you were given a dozen things to do at once! It was so important for him to be able to stay in his home for as long as possible and you played a hugely important role in making that possible.”
