At Home Instead Ealing, we believe exceptional care starts with exceptional people. That’s why we are absolutely delighted to share that our very own Registered Care Manager, Paschalina Pazou, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Best Registered Dementia Manager Award at this year’s Dementia Care Awards.

This national recognition celebrates individuals who go above and beyond to improve the lives of those living with dementia. For anyone who has met or worked alongside Paschalina, her nomination will come as no surprise. She doesn’t just lead with experience, she leads with compassion, innovation, and complete dedication.

A Lifelong Commitment to Dementia Care

Paschalina is a trained nurse and holds a Master’s Degree in Dementia Care, but her expertise is more than academic. She has supported over 150 individuals as a Care Professional and now as Care Manager. Her journey into dementia care was sparked by a desire to do more, to understand the emotional and psychological world of her clients, not just their physical needs.

Her groundbreaking dissertation explored how people with dementia can “live for the moment.” Rather than focusing on memory retention, she championed the value of joyful experiences in the here and now, recognising that happiness, comfort, and dignity are powerful, even when the memory fades. This belief now shapes how we deliver care every single day.

Changing the Language and Culture of Care

One of Paschalina’s most impactful contributions has been her transformation of the language used in our care planning. Terms like “suffering with dementia” have been replaced with empowering, strengths-based language that reinforces dignity and respect. This isn’t just semantics, it’s about setting a tone that uplifts clients, their families, and Care Professionals alike.

Paschalina has also embedded a culture of meaningful engagement at Home Instead. Her motto? Every moment matters.

Whether it’s a shared laugh, a favourite song, or a simple walk in the sunshine, she encourages Care Professionals to focus on creating positive emotional experiences, without the pressure of lasting memory. The result? Improved emotional wellbeing for clients and more fulfilling interactions for our teams.

Leadership That Uplifts Everyone

As a leader, Paschalina is both a mentor and a guide. She provides ongoing training and support to our Care Professionals, equipping them with practical tools to confidently navigate the complexities of dementia care. Her calm and empathetic presence is a steadying force for families and staff alike.

Melanie, whose late mother received care through Home Instead, describes Paschalina as “our guardian angel and fairy godmother rolled into one.” She recalls how Paschalina supported the entire family through a time of great distress, ensuring that their mother’s final months were filled with compassion, dignity, and love.

“She didn’t support us from behind, or tell us what to do. She stood beside us on our dark path and was our guiding light.”

Recognition Well Deserved

Being named a finalist in the Dementia Care Awards is a fitting tribute to everything Paschalina stands for. The awards celebrate innovation, impact, and compassion, qualities that Paschalina demonstrates every single day.

At Home Instead Ealing, we couldn’t be prouder to have her as part of our team. Her work is transforming not just the way we approach dementia care, but the lives of the people we serve and the families we support.

Please join us in congratulating Paschalina on this incredible achievement. Whatever the outcome, she is already a winner in our eyes and a shining example of what person-centred, heart-led care should look like.
