Today, we’re celebrating a remarkable leader of our team whose experience and dedication have been instrumental in achieving our CQC Outstanding rating: our Co-Owner and registered Care Manager, Julie Williams.

Starting out as a Registered Nurse

Did you know that we are led by a Registered Nurse? Julie’s journey in healthcare started when she qualified as a registered nurse in 1988. Her career spans across various roles including maternity, paediatrics, and general practice. With each step, Julie brought her commitment to patient care and safety, often working on night shifts and leading by example. Her dedication to her work and her ability to manage both patient and staff needs with excellence, built a foundation of skills that we all at Home Instead Dudley benefit from today.

Starting out as a registered nurse

Teaching health and social care

Recognising the importance of education in healthcare, Julie ventured into teaching, leveraging her extensive experience to benefit future health and social care professionals. Starting as a lecturer on a part time basis in 1993, she combined her passion for nursing and teaching. Her role evolved into a full-time position by 1999, giving Julie real-life insights into the sector’s educational demands. Julie’s academic achievements, including a Certificate of Education in 2001, show her commitment to lifelong learning and development.

A vision for a nurse-led home care company

In 2012, Julie took a bold step with her husband by establishing Home Instead Dudley and Sandwell South. From an initial team consisting of just themselves and another colleague, they have grown the company to now employ 52 dedicated individuals, providing outstanding rated care to 67 clients in our local area. As the backbone of our operations, Julie’s focus is on compliance, development, and planning. Her hands-on approach ensures that everyone on the team here in Dudley, herself included, holds additional responsibilities, creating a positive work environment where all of our skills and talent are fully utilised.

Our success in our most recent inspection in November 2019, where we were awarded an ‘Outstanding’ overall and outstanding in the caring, responsive, effective and well-led categories and ‘Good’ in safety, wouldn’t have been possible without Julie’s leadership. Her vision for a nurse-led home care company is now a reality, underpinning the exceptional standards of care we deliver daily.
