Open to All

Our regular and free, dementia friendly Community Singalongs are joyful and welcoming and run on the third Thursday of each month from 1.30pm to 3pm at Frinton Community Association, Soken House situated in The Triangle Shopping Centre.

The sessions aim to bring our community together to share in the joy of music, song and dance. Whether you love belting out a good tune or just humming along and sharing in the good vibes, the simple joy of singing together can lift the spirits, stir a memory and bring us together.

We love to include your favourite tunes, those songs that strike up childhood memories or special moments with loved ones, or just get you joining in and smiling. We’ve even been known to spontaneously get up and dance, in fact it’s positively encouraged.

Sometimes we’ll pick a theme. Our songs have taken us all around the world, from the bonny banks of Scotland, and the fair city of Dublin, to leaving our hearts in San Francisco, hitting the road with Jack and walking 500 miles.

Singing for Well-being

Singing together has a profound impact on brain health and well-being, including:

🧠 Improving memory retention
🧠 Enhancing the brain’s ability to adapt and change
🧠 Engaging emotional centres of the brain
🧠 Releasing hormones that contribute to a positive mood
🧠 fostering social connections and providing a sense of belonging

We’ve seen these sessions break down barriers, we’ve watched as someone who is living with advanced dementia instantly recognises a song and beams at the memory, or wipes away a tear of recognition as a song stirs a strong emotion. It’s great to see cared for and carers sharing these special moments, both gaining equal pleasure and equal meaning. Being a carer can be lonely, and our sessions provide a place to come together, meet and talk to others going through the same thing.

Drop in anytime and join the fun. There’s no need to book, just come along, you will receive a warm welcome from the Home Instead team.
