Over 2,250 people kindly gave up their Sunday and turned up for the Alzheimer’s Society - Memory Walk held at Aintree Race Couse, on Sunday 5th October, many of those sponsored were also walking in memory of friends and loved ones who have lived with dementia.

This year’s Memory Walk was sponsored by local ‘care at home’ company Home Instead Senior Care and Gail Godson Director of Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley said’ Alzheimer’s Society estimates that over fifty five thousand pounds was raised on the day and nationwide as much as one point eight million pounds should be raised, so it was wonderful to give up our time and join all the walkers and other volunteer stewards, for such a worthy cause.

Gail goes on to say ‘as a company that provides high quality care in someone’s own home, good dementia care is very close to our hearts and were delighted to help raise awareness and funds to provide vital support to people living with dementia and help Alzheimer's Society research to find a cure for the future. The organisation behind the Memory Walk was fabulous and helping ensure the caring and very generous people of the North West were well looked after was so much fun, we definitely will be back next year'.
