A BIG thank you to everyone who kindly visited our first Information Stall in Ormskirk Town Centre, on Saturday 19th May.
Going forward, Home Instead West Lancashire & Chorley will be hosting a weekly information point which is located in the centre of Ormskirk Market Town, just outside Superdrug and Age UK shops and in between a mobility aid and charity stall, and this will run throughout June.
Containing valuable information on care services and support for carers', it will be used by local charities, and voluntary organisations such as Breatheasy, Dementia UK, Different Strokes and others to hold fund raising and awareness activities these include running a small tombola, collection tins etc, through to creating increased awareness in the local community with brochures and hand outs, the Stroke Association will be actually taking the blood pressure of shoppers, as part of their awareness day.
Gail Godson goes on to say. "We have been looking at how we might put something positive back into the local community and in 2012 / 13 we will be supporting a range of local good causes via this venture. We will be allocating days so that everyone is given a fair opportunity to maximise local exposure, the dates in June are 2nd,16th,21st *,23rd *, 28th * & 30th *."
Separately, on those days marked with an * Home Instead are working with partners to provide a unique ‘ Free Personal Shopping Assistant’ service which will enable some of the more vulnerable members of our community to visit Ormskirk Town and be assisted free of charge with their shopping, ensuring they have a safe, secure and happy shopping experience.
It is our aim to host similar events throughout the months of September and December, and in early 2013 we will look to host this around Easter and thereafter we might make it a regular quarterly event.
