Dementia Action Week

Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley are holding Free  ‘Dementia Awareness’ Sessions in Chorley , being held at the Age UK Lifestyle Centre, in Chorley Town Centre , from 10.00-13.00 on May 14th, June 11th, July 9th and August 6th and over in Ormskirk , Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley are holding Free ‘Dementia Awareness’ Sessions , at Home Instead , 34, Heskin Lane, Ormskirk 13.00 – 15.00 on: May 3rd, June 21st, July 26th and August 23rd, details of all these free awareness events can be found on the Alzheimer’s Society web site.

On Tuesday 22nd of May, 14.00-16.00 at The Five Ways Public House Ormskirk, Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley are hosting a Challenge Dementia Quiz ‘pub quiz’, local charities, businesses and organisations are invited to take part and join in  .The Alzheimer’s Society are asking supporters and organisations to sign up, team up and challenge dementia by taking on an action packed quiz. This Dementia Action Week, Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley will help the Alzheimer’s Society  to outsmart dementia, using the mighty power of the pub quiz to raise funds – and have a lot of fun.   You can contact Brogan on 01695 - 589071 for more details or sign up today for your free Challenge Dementia Quiz kit, here  

Our MD Robert Godson, is  Chair of the West Lancashire Dementia Friendly Community (West Lancs DfC), steering group, run by volunteers, local organisations, businesses , voluntary and charitable sectors, all three emergency services, Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust , local politicians etc the DfC roups aim is to help make West Lancashire a place where people can live with dementia, feeling safe and supported to live well. West Lancs DfC will be holding an information stand on Ormskirk Market on Thursday 24th May from 09.00 -16.00, where local community members can find out more about dementia and what local services and support is available.

From Monday 21st May, West Lancs DfC, will also be launching five short films, featuring West Lancs DfC members who generously gave up their free time to tell their storey, designed to help spread awareness of dementia from someone living well with a diagnosis of dementia, a family carers experience caring for loved ones ,  through to some of the community assets and support services available in West Lancs.
