Last Saturday 19th October saw Home Instead attend a fantastic Community awareness, support and advice event, held at the Cropper Gardens Centre in Hesketh Bank.

This free event, was organised by the Cropper Gardens Residents Committee and supported by local companies and organisations, it was held so that people in the local community, especially the elderly and vulnerable could get professional help and support with different aspects of their general health and well-being including debt management, podiatry support , FREE community services and at-home care.

The day was well attended by the community and included a surprise visit from The Lord Mayor of West Lancashire (Ian Ashcroft).

This was the first event of this type to be held at the Cropper Gardens Centre and may not be the last. Wonderful feedback was received on the day by the numerous visitors, who were impressed by the time given, professionalism and the wealth of FREE one-to-one advice they received.

The volunteer Residents Committee also arrange many other events during the year, they are dedicated to serving the local community and making a difference to the quality of people’s lives, future events include :

Age Concern - Luncheon Club (Over 50’s Only) first Tuesday of every month (12noon – 13.00) £3.00 for a 2 course meal. Nov 5th and Dec 3rd.

Christmas Meal -  (Cropper Gardens Residents Only ) 12th Dec (Details TBC).

The stand out event will be the Christmas Day Meal on Dec 25th , which is being held especially for elderly people in the local area who would other wise be alone on Christmas Day.

The Residents Committee are conscious that there are so many isolated and lonely people in their local community and across West Lancashire,  they aim to ensure that at this very special time of year, by giving up their own time they will ensure that others do not need to be alone on Christmas Day. If you know anyone who would benefit from this or who would like to support the event in any way then please contact Pam Nickson on 0770 3563132 or Gladys Catchpole on 01772 815833 for further information.
