Raising Awareness for Dementia

Showcasing the support services available and raising awareness for Dementia in the local community, it was a warm and positive morning at Toby Carvery.

We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who kindly attended our Dementia Awareness Session on Tuesday 14th May at Toby Carvery (Ormskirk).

It was a privilege to host an event where numerous community services were available in one room, all generously sharing their valuable time, expertise, experience and knowledge around Dementia, offering everyone an opportunity to better understand what support is available in our local area.

As in previous years, the event featured free morning refreshments and was part of our ongoing passion and support at Home Instead West Lancashire and Chorley for Dementia Action Week, an annual initiative that aims to raise awareness around Dementia, the impact that it has on individuals and their loved ones, plus the community services that are available to support at home.

It was such a wonderful morning! We are so glad we got to host this amazing event!
Home Instead Dementia Awareness Day

We know that dementia can be a difficult subject, so we were delighted to bring everyone together yesterday in one relaxing room, designed to create a friendly and positive environment just to sit, relax and openly talk about Dementia.

We hope that those who came along to meet the local community specialists on hand, walked away with plenty of valuable information.

AgeUK Lancashire, Alzheimer’s Society, Hope Street, Cllr. Anne Fennell, Iris Therapy Services, Grey Matters Consultancy, NHS Social Prescribing Team, About the Town Skelmersdale, WLDC Wellbeing Officers, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy, and the team at Toby Carvery for being on hand to help with anything we needed – thank you all so much for attending and playing a part in making this event so positive.

We also had the Mayor for West Lancashire, Councillor Maureen Nixon, and her Consort Laughton Wilkinson attend. It was so lovely for them to come along and you can see all the photos from the day below!
