Client Open Letter - Flu Season (NHS)

Important update on this year’s more severe flu season and how we’re supporting you to stay safe at home...

Flu Season open letter to all home instead west lancashire and chorley clients

Open Letter to all Clients – Friday 5th of December 2025

We are writing to inform you that this year’s flu season is proving to be more severe than usual, with higher NHS numbers of cases being reported locally and nationally.

Your health and wellbeing remain our top priority, and we want to ensure you have the information and support you need to stay safe, in the comfort and familiarity of your own home.

What this means for you:

  • People who are older or living with long-term health conditions are at greater risk of
    complications from flu.

Symptoms may develop quickly and can be more intense than in previous years. Early recognition and prompt action are important. Below are suggestions as to how you can help protect yourself:

  • Get the flu vaccination if you have not already done so. Contact you GP Surgery or local
Pharmacy for support. It remains the most effective way to reduce the risk of serious illness.
  • Wash your hands regularly and avoid close contact with anyone who is unwell where possible.
  • Notify your Home Instead Care Professional or the Home Instead office team immediately if you begin to feel unwell, particularly if you develop a fever, cough, sore throat, or sudden fatigue.
  • Keep your home well-ventilated when possible.

What we are doing:

Home Instead care professionals and office team are continuing to follow latest UK Gov infection protection and control measures, including the use of appropriate PPE, safe donning and doffing, safe disposal, frequent hand hygiene, and monitoring for symptoms and changes in wellbeing.

We will continue to provide care as safely and reliably as possible throughout the flu season. If you have any questions, or if you feel unwell and are unsure what to do, please contact us on 01695 589071

If you feel your symptoms are severe, please contact either 111 or in an emergency 999.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us to help keep everyone safe this winter.
