Chichester Crematorium Open Day
Last month, members of the Home Instead Chichester & Bognor Regis team were honoured to attend an Open Day at Chichester Crematorium, hosted by Dignity Funerals. The event offered a truly meaningful opportunity to connect with other local professionals who support individuals and families through some of life’s most sensitive and significant moments.
We were proud to attend alongside Bev Downie, one of our experienced Care Professionals who is also a qualified End of Life Doula. Bev is deeply passionate about providing compassionate, person-centred support during end-of-life journeys and has recently launched the End of Life Network—an initiative committed to connecting individuals and professionals who share a dedication to dignified, informed, and supportive end-of-life care.
Set in beautifully maintained and peaceful grounds, Chichester Crematorium provided a serene environment for open and respectful conversations. We were welcomed warmly and given the opportunity to tour the facilities, including a behind-the-scenes look at the cremation process. We were moved by the care, dignity, and attention to detail shown throughout every aspect of the process—underscoring the commitment of the team to ensuring respectful experiences for grieving families and loved ones.
The event also offered time to network with a wide range of like-minded professionals, including funeral directors, celebrants, bereavement support workers, and community health partners. These connections are vital to ensuring joined-up care and support for individuals approaching end of life, and for the families who walk beside them.
At Home Instead, we believe that end-of-life care is one of the most important services we can provide. Attending events like this helps us continue to build relationships and grow our understanding so that we can better support our clients and community—both emotionally and practically.
We’d like to thank the team at Chichester Crematorium for hosting such a thoughtful and informative event. We also extend our deep appreciation to Bev Downie for representing Home Instead and for her ongoing work in promoting compassionate end-of-life care through the End of Life Network.
