Home Instead Chichester Showcases Falls Prevention Support at First Emergency Services Day
Last weekend, Chichester held its first-ever Emergency Services Community Day – and what a fantastic event it turned out to be! Families and residents gathered in the city centre to meet local emergency services, learn more about the work they do, and enjoy interactive activities and demonstrations.
The event was brilliantly organised by Station Manager Anton Mezzone from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, and it was wonderful to see such a strong turnout from across our community.
Home Instead Chichester was proud to be part of the day, with a stall right next to our friends at Sage House Dementia Support who were representing the Chichester Dementia Alliance, a partnership we are delighted to be a part of, which works to make our community a more supportive and inclusive place for people living with dementia.
At our stall, our team spent the day chatting with members of the public about the services we provide to support older adults across Chichester and the surrounding areas. We also had the opportunity to demonstrate a vital piece of equipment that we use in our care – the Raizer Chair.
The demonstration drew particular interest from the emergency services teams, who were keen to learn more about how it works and how it can reduce the risks for both clients and care professionals. It was also a great opportunity to meet and connect with other members of the local emergency services who do so much to keep our community safe.
The Raizer Emergency Lifting Chair is a specially designed piece of equipment that helps safely and comfortably lift a person from the floor after a fall. Falls are unfortunately common among older adults, and waiting for an ambulance to arrive can be distressing and, in some cases, lead to further complications if someone remains on the floor for a long period.
The Raizer Chair offers a dignified and efficient solution:
For many families, having access to this kind of support provides huge peace of mind. It ensures their loved one can be cared for safely at home and helps avoid unnecessary hospital stays, which can often be disruptive and distressing for older people.
The Emergency Services Day was a real success – not only in bringing the community together but also in highlighting the importance of collaboration between care providers, health services, and support organisations.
We were delighted to meet so many local people, to share our expertise, and to show how equipment like the Raizer Chair plays a vital role in supporting safe, dignified care at home. Many of the families we support have told us how reassuring it is to know that our Care Professionals are trained and equipped to safely respond if a loved one falls.
At Home Instead Chichester, we believe that being part of our community means working alongside others – from emergency services to local dementia support organisations – to make Chichester a safer, more caring place for older people to live well.
