Garden centres to visit in Chichester and Bognor Regis
It’s hard to beat a combination of light shopping and greenery for an enjoyable day out with older people. Try these garden centres in and around Chichester and Bognor Regis.
Brick Kiln Garden Centre | Chichester
Brick Kiln Garden Centre is located on the westbound part of the A259 Chichester Road close to the Bognor roundabout. It’s a large centre and stocks pretty much everything you could ever need for a garden, from plants, trees and bulbs to outdoor furniture and pet supplies – the list is endless.
Brick Kiln also has a large cafe-restaurant, serving a good range of drinks, snacks and meals throughout the day.
Access in the centre is generally good, there are some gravel paths but everything is flat. The car park is a stone/gravel surface which some older visitors may find challenging with a mobility aid.
Shopwyke Nurseries | Chichester
Shopwyke Nurseries also known as Plants Outside is situated on the corner of Drayton Lane and Tangmere Road. Shopwyke Nurseries is an independent, family run own-grown garden nursery on the outskirts of Chichester.
The nursery prides itself on growing 95% of their plants themselves or sourced locally. Alongside a large range of outdoor plants, the nursery provides a wide range of garden consumables, fuels, indoor plants, pots, stoneware and other garden sundries.
There is no café here so senior visitors should ensure they are well hydrated prior to their visit or perhaps their Care Professional can take a drink with them on the visit.
Hillier Garden Centre | Fishbourne
Located just a few miles west of Chichester between Fishbourne and Bosham is Hillier Garden Centre. There’s plenty of free parking here for Care Professionals and their senior clients to visit.
Established for almost 20 years visitors will find a fantastic range of quality plants, many grown by Hillier at their local nurseries including a wide selection of coastal and cottage garden plants in keeping with the local area. They also stock a range of garden accessories and beautiful homewares along with expert plant advice and a friendly welcome at their Mulberry & Thyme coffee shop.
Opening times are 0900-1730 Monday thru Saturday and 1000-1630 on a Sunday. The centre can be found on Main Road, Bosham, PO18 8FL.
Russells Garden Centre | Birdham
Russells is much more than a garden centre. If your senior enjoys home décor as well as all things outdoors then they will certainly enjoy a visit here.
Russells is a family-run home interiors and garden centre located in Birdham, near Chichester. A lifestyle store with indoor and outdoor furniture, gifts, plants, gardening products and much more.
Their seaside location inspires the coastal style that runs throughout the store. They are renowned for their vast array of stylish sea and shoreline themed interior decorations and gifts.
Opening times are Tuesday-Saturday 0900-1700. Russells can be found on Main Road, Birdham, Chichester PO20 7BY.
Manor Nursery | Runcton
Manor Nursery is located on the Lagness Road at Runction, just outside of Chichester and Bognor Regis. This is a popular garden centre and has a large array of plants, flowers and outdoor living products as well as the Palmhouse restaurant – perfect for a morning coffee, afternoon tea or lunch.
This is a large centre with plenty of car parking. Senior visitors should not experience any difficulty with access here. There may be the occasional gravel footpath but otherwise nothing for Care Professional’s or family members to be concerned about.
