A Lifetime of Care: Introducing our owner Stephanie at Home Instead Chesterfield

Meet Stephanie, the committed owner and registered nurse behind Home Instead Chesterfield.

Stephanie Metham, Director and Registered Care Manager at Home Instead Chesterfield

Hello, my name is Stephanie Metham, and I’m the Director and Registered Care Manager of Home Instead Chesterfield, which I co-own and operate with my husband, Nigel. Today at our blog I am sharing a glimpse into my journey from a 30-year nursing career to leading a team dedicated to providing exceptional home care services since 2011.

30 Years of Nursing

Transitioning from my nursing career to a Care Director at Home Instead, I brought with me invaluable experiences from my time within the NHS and managing nurse teams at Ashfield. My background in nursing, including in General Surgery, Midwifery and as a Practice Nurse has been instrumental in shaping a service that prioritises personalised and compassionate care. I will be forever grateful for the training and development I received at Ashfield, which provided me with the business and sales skills necessary to run Home Instead Chesterfield.

Since 2011, our Chesterfield office has been dedicated to adapting and refining its home care services to create safe, nurturing, and supportive environments for clients requiring assistance. Whether it’s personal care, dementia care, companionship, or home help or live-in care, our team ensures that our clients receive care that respects their independence and enhances their comfort.

At Home Instead Chesterfield, our Care Professionals come from different backgrounds and are united by a shared commitment to the health and wellbeing of our clients. They undergo a rigorous vetting process and participate in a comprehensive learning and development program to ensure their skills meet our clients’ unique needs.

For me, it’s not just about providing home care—it’s about becoming an integral part of our community. We strive to improve our clients’ lives beyond their homes, helping them stay connected to the local area and access broader community services. Receiving an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is a testament to our commitment to quality service, and it’s an achievement we hold with great pride.

The hard work and dedication of our staff extend to our local office, where our Care Managers, Scheduling Team, and Recruitment Staff operate. The seamless collaboration between fieldwork and office operations allows us to continually adapt, improve, and refine our services, ensuring we provide the best possible care. As active participants in the Destination Chesterfield Initiative, Dementia Friendly Chesterfield Group and proud Chesterfield Champions, we are always exploring new ways to support our community.

Making a positive difference in the lives of the people in our local community, in and around Chesterfield, Dronfield and Hope Valley is what matters, and supporting our clients to live well in their own homes for longer. Seeing the reality of offering personalised care at home for more than a decade, with compassionate engagement, offered by our dedicated local Home Instead team, makes Nigel and I extremely proud of what we have all achieved at Home Instead Chesterfield.
