Be a Santa is back for 2023!!

Home Instead Chelmsford’s ‘Be a Santa’ gift-giving scheme aims to touch the lives of older people in our community who may be lonely or might not receive a gift this Christmas

Our gift-giving scheme has been spreading seasonal joy and happiness to the older people in our community for many years, and we now have ongoing relationships with local businesses, groups, and schools to ensure our gifts reach the people most in need of them.

Last year the Home Instead Chelmsford team was overwhelmed with the public’s response and support with donated gifts, with over 500 gifts received in total, including hampers and raffle prizes, which were collected, wrapped, and delivered out in time for the festive period to our community.

With the support of the office team and our fantastic care professionals, we were able to break our previous records and were blown away by the generous response we received, and this year we want to make it even BIGGER and better!

This year we are teaming up with Tesco’s Princes Road, Chelmsford, where we will have a stand in-store for 3 days, where our festive Home Instead team will be handing out wish lists, to assist busy shoppers with gift suggestions and ideas of the kind of gifts they might like to purchase and donate.

These could be anything from:

  • toiletries
  • gift sets
  • gloves and scarves
  • mugs
  • calendars
  • boxes of biscuits
  • chocolates
  • tinned or long-life groceries that can create hampers

We are also working with Broomfield Hospital and will be in attendance at their Dementia Hub on 30th November between 10 am – 3 pm if you would like to bring along any items that you wish to donate.

The Home Instead office elves will then get all the donations sorted into groups, wrapped, and distributed across the community and to Broomfield Hospital for those who will be away from their families during this time.  Our hope is that the gifts the older people receive will bring them some joy over the festive period.

Christmas can be a lonely time for many, especially the older generation, and loneliness can have serious effects on a person’s health.  Home Instead aims to prevent loneliness through companionship care, throughout the year.

If you would like to get involved and make a difference in someone’s life this Christmas, please visit us on one of our donation days. Alternatively, feel free to drop donations into our office – Alexandra House, 36a Church Street, Great Baddow, Chelmsford CM2 7HY

Together, we can beat loneliness  💜💜
