The tea room is within the grounds of Writtle Agricultural College (now Writtle College) and stands on the former site of a cattle shed and milking parlour.

The staff are all friendly and welcoming, and while no reservations are required it may be busier during peak season. However, if you do find yourself with a short wait for a table, why not visit the site of one of King John’s hunting lodges dating from around 1210 A.D, just across the road within the grounds of Writtle College
