The Dementia Sensory Garden Update

Home Instead Charnwood started a project back in 2021. A Dementia Sensory Garden, based in Loughborough on Churchgate behind the office. The Garden has had a MASSIVE transformation since the beginning. As previously said the garden started out as an overgrown garden that has needed completely revamping. THANKFULLY! The garden is finally starting to look somewhat ready to start preparing flowers, seating areas and artwork ready for the grand opening in May. Where we’ll also celebrate our 5th birthday.

Of course, one step forward.. Two steps back. The storm came at the start of the year..

Our beautiful green house was blown down by the storm. Although on a positive note, we have some wonderful ideas that are going to brighten up the garden and make it perfect for the community to enjoy. Making it easier for us to spread awareness on Dementia and the elderly community. We can’t fault the progress the office has made. We are determined to ensure that there is something for everyone, the plan is to have a sheltered area for people to enjoy. There will be plants, windchimes and other that will enhance the smell, touch and hearing.
