Top 5 spots for Brunch in Charnwood

Enjoy the perfect brunch next time you are out with an older person, drop into some of our favourite places in Charnwood.

Brunch is the meal between breakfast and lunch so if you are out shopping in Loughborough and surrounding villages with your elderly clients, you might have skipped breakfast and be feeling rather peckish. Home Instead recommends these places to enjoy a hearty brunch and gather some energy.

Goodliffe’s, Loughborough

When you pop into Home Instead’s Loughborough office be sure to pay a visit to our neighbour Goodliffe’s. Located in desirable Churchgate this restaurant and bistro serve fresh, seasonal, local food with a relaxed atmosphere for elderly companions and their carers to meet each other.  Goodliffe’s full English breakfast is made with local sausage and bacon, sauteed mushrooms, roasted tomato, baked beans, a slice of toast & two free-range eggs – poached, fried or scrambled eggs. They also do posh eggs on toast topped with smoked salmon for an extra touch of class and the same option with avocado or perhaps you have a sweet tooth and therefore warm American style pancakes served with maple syrup on the side go down a treat. Wash this down with the perfect blend of coffee or a refined cup of tea and you are set for a morning to remember. As it nears closer to lunchtime, why not add a glass of wine. This is a great place to stop for brunch. Set in plush surroundings the service and setting are exquisite. You and your carer can spend many happy hours chatting away while watching the shoppers go by.

Pillings Lock Marina, Quorn

Sit outside watching the boats moor up in this beautiful marina location. You and your elderly charge will love the scenery as you enjoy your brunch at Pillings Lock Marina in Quorn. Served between 9am and 3pm, the brunch menu, aka Boat House Big Breakfast is a hearty meal that comprises sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns, black pudding, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes and toast. It also includes a mug of tea, coffee or fruit juice. Vegetarian options are also available. The eggs benedict, eggs royale and eggs Florentine are also excellent options which can be served in a ciabatta with bacon or salmon or spinach with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Another brunch favourite is the rocket, plum tomato and chilli jam on a toasted cheese and jalapeno bagel. This will be a great memory to make to retell at WI meetings. Your grandchildren will also love this location as there are plenty of ducks to feed and pellets are available at the counter.

Bom Bom Patisserie, Loughborough

Everyone knows that the best cookies in town are at Bom Bom and a warm and friendly welcome awaits at this establishment set up by Marta and her husband Dan in 2012. Word spread across Charnwood about their delicious, sweet treats and now it is the most popular spots in Loughborough. When she is in, Marta’s warm personality envelops you and her staff are all the same so elderly people will love the friendly vibe at the Derwent Drive location. It is a laid-back family atmosphere that welcomes children, which grandparents will love as they spend time with their carer and perhaps might return with their grandchildren in the future. As for brunch, there are always sweet treats cooking in the oven with fresh croissants, Danish pastries and pots of healthy grains, this is the perfect place to quell the rumble in your stomach between breakfast and lunch. Get your carer to take you there by car as it is a fair walk from town, but with such a warm welcome we are sure you’ll be back again and again.

The BREWery. Sileby

The beautiful village of Sileby is a lovely place to visit for the shops and walks around the green spaces with your older person, and while you are there ensure you stop for brunch at the BREWery coffee shop. You are welcomed in by the aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries. On a sunny day find a spot in the garden to enjoy your brunch outside. Tea and coffee can be served with dairy alternatives and the BREWery has its own blend of oat milk and the bread is freshly baked on the premises. Choose poached eggs and bacon on sourdough for a delicious treat or something sweet. You and your carer will have a top day out at this wonderful location and refuel ready for the next round of shopping. Carers can also pop in for supplies on their way to clients.

Beardsley’s, Rearsby

Beardsley’s, in the heart of Rearsby is just the place where carers and their clients can enjoy homemade cakes, light bites, hot treats and brunch – all freshly prepared and from the Aga. After your tea, take a browse around the quirky shop, that sells locally sourced produce and gifts. Carers can also pop in for an emergency pint of milk on their way to their clients homes. Those recovering from operations or perhaps not able to leave the house can buy gift vouchers to have something special to look forward to in the future.

If you would like brunch in your own home Home Instead carers can arrange that for you. Home Instead Charnwood provides carers who become companions to their elderly clients. If you would like to find out more about care visit the website or call 0116 2165306.
