5 Great Senior Lunch Spots in Cardiff

Lunchtime can be a great time of day to get out in Cardiff with your elderly loved one or friend for a nice treat.

Social interaction is a factor in our mental wellbeing and to maintain connected to others. 1. The Old Cottage

In Lisvane, next to Parc Cefn Onn, you will find The Old Cottage. This country pub is a perfect place for a meal away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The characterful building is filled with cosy corners and log fires. With its freshly prepared menu it is brilliant for a bite to eat. Why not try one of their roasts on a Sunday? There are a few steps in the building but plenty of tables where you don’t need to use them. Open every day of the week from 11:00am.

2. Pettigrew Tea Rooms

Right next to Cardiff Castle, in the city centre, is Pettigrew Tea Rooms. A traditional tea room in the heart of Cardiff which is a great stop if you have been to Bute Park for a stroll. There are different choices of coffee, tea, cake, light lunch, or afternoon tea. A range of indoor and outdoor seating is available, depending on the weather.  We can assure you that this newly renovated tea-room is a hidden gem. Open every day of the week from 10:00am till 17:30pm.

3. Pugh’s Garden Centre

You will find 2 x Pugh’s Garden Centres. In Radyr you will find The Watering Can Coffee Shop. Lots of seating can be found here for lunch Monday to Saturday. No pre-booking is required and is an ideal spot to relax for a light lunch, coffee or sweet treat! Inside there’s lots of beautiful decoration along with an airy conservatory. There is also seating outside, which is undercover, with views of Castell Coch. This place is must to visit on the lead up to Christmas with their festive menu. 4. Norwegian Church

Down Cardiff Bay is the Norwegian Church which have their Norsk Café. This café is a fan favourite with many of our clients choosing this as their lunch spot of choice. Many of the dishes are inspired by the Norwegian cuisine and they have an attractive selection of pastries, appetisers, brunch options, teas, and coffees. They are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00am till 18:00pm. While you eat you can also enjoy the views across the bay towards Penarth in one direction and the Senedd in the other.

5. Look Out Café

Also down Cardiff Bay is the Look Out Café Bar which looks over the Bay towards Cardiff. Open from 10:00am there are plenty of drinks and light bites for you to choose from. If you are going for a walk down the Bay, this is a great place to stop half-way to have light meal.
