Home Instead Sponsors Sporting Memories

Bringing people together through conversation, connection and community.
At Home Instead Bromley, Chislehurst & Orpington, we are passionate about helping older adults stay connected to the people, places and activities that matter most to them. That is why we are incredibly proud to sponsor Sporting Memories at Bromley Football Club alongside the Bromley Borough Rotary Club.
Sporting Memories is a wonderful community group that uses the power of sport, reminiscence and conversation to help older adults improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and stay socially active. The sessions create a warm and welcoming environment where people can share stories, make new friendships and enjoy meaningful social interaction through sporting memories and activities.
The initiative is part of the wider Sporting Memories Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting older people and those living with dementia, depression or loneliness through the shared language of sport. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and relaxed, whether someone has always loved football and sport or simply enjoys meeting new people and having a chat over a cup of tea.
Held regularly at Bromley Football Club, the sessions combine conversation, quizzes, gentle activities and social connection in a friendly atmosphere. There is always plenty of laughter and support in the room, and it is fantastic to see the positive impact the group has on everyone who attends.
As a home care provider supporting older adults across Bromley, Chislehurst, Orpington and the surrounding areas, we see first hand how important companionship and community can be for emotional wellbeing and independence. Loneliness and isolation can have a significant impact on health, particularly later in life, which is why community initiatives such as Sporting Memories are so valuable.
Our team at Home Instead Bromley, Chislehurst & Orpington is proud to play a small part in helping these sessions continue to grow and thrive. We are also delighted to support additional wellbeing activities linked to the sessions, including our Love to Move seated exercise workshops which encourage movement, confidence and social interaction in a fun and engaging way.
One of the things that makes Sporting Memories so special is its ability to bring together people from all walks of life. Whether someone attends alone for the first time or comes regularly with friends, everyone is made to feel welcome. The sessions are not only about sport, they are about belonging, connection and creating moments of joy.
We would like to thank everyone involved with Sporting Memories at Bromley FC for the incredible work they do to support older adults in our community. It is always a pleasure to attend the sessions and see the positive difference they make.
